Remote Observations

Unattended remote observing with the CSO is permitted under the following conditions:

	* Prior approval is obtained from the CSO Manager, Simon Radford <sradford@caltech.edu>. Usually remote observations are prescheduled.
	* Remote observing is permitted if and only if the weather is good and the forecast is stable. The CSO Manager will make a weather determination each night prior to the start of observations. Inclement weather that precludes remote observing includes, …

Weather Multiplexing

Under the CSO weather multiplexing policy, programs that require excellent weather conditions, typically 350 μm observations, are scheduled in parallel with programs that are not so demanding, typically 230 GHz observations. Each afternoon, the CSO Manager, or a designated staff member, will decide which program has priority. The decision is based on the sky transparency, other meteorological data, and weather forecasts.
